Meet Larry!
The happy pet owner.
If you can get yourself to look beyond Klara and Mao Mao, you'll see the lizard habitat in the background.
As many of you have heard, we got 2 leopard geckos for Christmas. They are very cute, soft bellied, and easy to care for. Despite that you'd be surprised at the number of people whose first inclination upon seeing them is to leave the room!
When we first got them they were quite young so with similar looking genitalia we were convinced we had two males, Larry and Moe. Well, once you have gender in your head, it's hard to wrap your mind around the fact that you might have gotten it wrong, even with the most obvious signs. We got them two separate caves because we thought they were fighting for territory, we were worried about Moe because of his small size, and we kept replacing the moss in the snake hole (they use it for shedding their skin) because it appeared as if some sort of fungi was growing in there. Finally one day when everyone was napping except for Nora, she comes running into my room, "Mamma, mamma, Moe's gonna be a mommy! There's an egg in the snake hole!" Well turns out the wrestling wasn't about territory, and the fungi were buried eggs. Sometimes you have to get hit you over the head with a bat to see the obvious! Now we're spelling her name Mo and maybe someday we'll incubate one of those eggs to add "Curly" to our collection. For now, I think we'll just try to get used to the habits of a pair of geckos.
